Death Valley National Park
We drove over to Death Valley from Los Angeles, which took just under a day. We travelled past the salt mines of Trona, and up the valley west of the Panamint Mountains that surround Death Valley. We crossed the snowy mountains and headed down into Death Valley. We stayed at the Furnace Creek Ranch, an amazing hotel 178 feet below sea level. We visited Badwater, the Devil's Golf-course, Artist's Palette, and Dante's View on the first day, Scotty's Castle, Ubehebe Crater, the sand dunes, and Mosaic Canyon on the second day. It's an amazing place, and was very warm despite being mid-winter. My favourite part was surely Mosaic Canyon which was amazing to look at, very quiet and peaceful with superb views (if you can climb steep paths a bit).

The carpark at Badwater. Notice the small white sign on the rock marking sea-level.
